Michael Todd
Hi, my name is Michael Todd
After completing year 12 high school I completed an apprenticeship as a Telecommunications Technician and worked on a variety of equipment in the telecommunications field in jobs which as well as being interesting also provided an opportunity to develop diagnostic, technical and practical skills. These skills have become extremely useful in my current course of study.
In 2005 I enrolled in a Double Degree program at Curtin University and in 2008 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Bachelor of Secondary Education.
During my undergraduate degree I was engaged in a research project in Optical Astronomy which involved working with Curtin University’s Meade optical telescope, conducting experiments and testing various pieces of equipment. My supervisor for this project was Professor Merv Lynch (Remote Sensing Group).
In 2009 I undertook Physics Honours and was engaged in Asteroid Tracking and Detection research using the 1 metre Zadko Telescope near Gingin in Western Australia. My supervisors for this project were Dr David Coward (UWA) and Assoc. Professor Mario Zadnik (Curtin).
What I enjoy most about this course is the variety of interesting experiments offered to students and learning about the latest developments in science. There is an amazing amount of ground breaking work being conducted right here in Western Australia and as a student I am offered the chance to be involved in current projects.
