Good reasons to study Astronomy at Curtin
Working with local and international collaborators

Curtin Astronomy has established excellent links with both the local and international astronomy community. In their final year Curtin astronomy students have the opportunity to work on projects associated with professional scientists, engineers and astronomers. Some projects may involve travel to remote locations and working with high-tech equipment.
Have you ever wanted to build or use a telescope? How about one of the world’s most powerful? Astronomy students at Curtin University will have access to one of the world’s most powerful radio telescopes, currently under development in Western Australia.
The Murchison Radioastronomy Observatory (MRO) is the future of radio astronomy in Australia. This facility will not only advance endeavours in radio astronomy on a national level but will position Australia at the forefront of developments on a global level for many years to come.
Career options
Because the Curtin Astronomy and Radio Astronomy Engineering courses are founded in substantial fundamental physics, computing and mathematics, when you graduate you are not restricted to working in astronomy but can work in many other areas of science and technology.
Be part of a community
Curtin Astronomy is part of the Curtin Physics community and has close ties to Electrical and Computer Engineering. Curtin Physics is a small dynamic department, which performs above the national average in teaching quality performance indicators. We know all our students personally and take great pride in our graduates and their achievements.
